Nephi then sees that the Gentiles in America beat the British and never get taken over again. Idk Joseph the ways things are going you might have overplayed your hand lol


Nephi sees a book and goes uh what’s this?


The angel says it came from the mouth of a Jew. The Bible. From the mouth of A Jew. Yes definitely the one Jewish person who wrote the whole thing you know like Joseph Smi— I mean Mormon


Also the Bible is only correct when it was said and then got corrupted. This is Joseph’s Avenue to redoing the Bible. And yes he does do that and it’s about as peculiar as you’d expect 


He “retranslates” Matthew and some of the Old Testament mostly Genesis and it’s kinda bizarre


The angel says yea these churches used the Bible but then took a lot of important bits out (like baptism by immersion that Joseph will insist on). 


Because they don’t have these important bits they are evil now. 


Wow that took a dark turn, so dont worry we’ve got more


Also the Angel says by the way America is going to always be the best because God promise your dad so gotta love that American exceptionalism.


Oh and your brethren’s descendants will only get mostly genocided. 


Fantastic!


To go along that thought I skipped the part where the Angel says Christopher Columbus was called of God. 


Yup the murdering, butchering, rapist who got called back to Spain for his crimes was called of God. And colonialism for that matter. Wtf God


While this part just says a man it is widely taught and accepted in the church that this is referring to Columbus in all his bloody rapey glory.

Jumping a bit back in this chapter, Nephi sees one church that seeks out wealth and sex and precious things. 


All churches are grouped together into this church that aren’t the “true church”


These are real interesting to compare to the modern or even Brighamite church 🤔


Also Joseph Smith was a convicted treasure hunter fraud so that’s...yea. Peculiar. 


It didn’t take long to condemn yourself did you Joe?


Brushing up on the colonialism bit, not only is Colombus sent by god to the new world but also the wrath of God through colonialism and genocide is on native Americans for leaving Judaism/Christianity. 


God sure sounds like a swell guy!


Joseph is really Making it clear that this is true. 


“Look the Book even says they left me a part to find. Super legit.”


The angel says oh remember when Jesus said I have other sheep? It’s your descendants and he’ll visit them. 


Because he visits them they then bring the BOM to everyone before the second coming


Oh yea it’s all coming together 


We are almost done with this filler arc! 


I’ll briefly talk about future ones but these had a lot of background that sets the scene for the rest of the Book!

2nd Nephi Chapter 9

Joseph you’ve said this over and over what is the point dude.  The atonement is necessary else god would have to banish us for wickedness. Yet again another discrepancy with the trinity. It says the holy one of Israel will judge who is Jesus but current teachings say Jesus will be our advocate not the judge while the father judges. 1st Nephi Chapter 2

Chapter 2 Lehi gathers his family and they flee into the wilderness because nobody cares to Stone you if you run far enough or maybe they just can’t throw that far. Who knows. Need some Nephi arms  Laman and Lemuel are like we were rich and you want us to live in the fucking wilderness? Dude wtf Nephi is like I’m young but I’m buff as hell as spiritual and gifted and I’m sure bragging about this won’t make my brothers hate me If it’s not clear Nephi is Joseph Smith’s stand-in While the church likes to represent him as a buff 20 something given the time period Nephi is probably like 14-16 considering none of his siblings are married. Maybe younger. It’ll make Nephi make a lot more sense.
