 Chapter 9

Remember how they had to get the plates of brass and they supposedly couldn’t deal without them?

Nephi just reveals oh yea I’m making my own plates because as a rich strong spiritual dude I just know how to do that.

I will make a set of big plates that tell everything called the plates of Nephi. And these smaller plates will focus on spiritual things also called.... the plates of Nephi.

Nephi I’m starting to think Laman took all the brains

Also important to note, for those unaware, the first part of the Book of Nephi is written in response to Joseph Smith’s scribe taking the 116 pages of the book of Lehi and losing them to his skeptical wife who demands they recreate them.

Joseph of course is flying by the seat of his pants.

So his response is uh Nephi wrote the same stuff on other plates that are slightly different because making plates is just that easy apparently.

Nephi remarks here in chapter 9 that he has no idea why the Lord commanded him to make not only one set but a second set of plates so Joseph Smurf can be like haha! See! Divine inspiration 2400 years ago for this moment

For nonmormons I’m making another note here.

According to Mormonism, Joseph only translates 1/2 to 1/3 of the Book of Mormon.

The rest is apparently a sealed portion that is a total telling of all of history. But that can’t be released yet because reasons

It’s at this point Joseph has ran out of plot from the previous book and is like fuck it Naruto won’t be created for 160 years but dammit I’m bringing in a filler arc!

Sadly, expect a ton of these. And a lot of plagiarism. Like a lot. You’ll see in second Nephi

A couple other Joseph and BOM things.

While church paintings say otherwise, Joseph is reading from a rock in a hat. No one has ever claimed to see the plates but Joseph.

The 3 and 12 witnesses say they saw it with their spiritual eyes. That’s what’s we’re dealing with

While I could go through and try to find the original, I’m using the 1980’s version of the BOM.

Yup the BOM has versions too and has had almost 4000 changes that we know of.

I’ll make some references to changes but the vast majority are inconsequential

More on those later

Chapter 9 Jacob prophesies that the Jews will return to Israel and Jesus will come to Jerusalem. Joseph you’ve said this over and over what is the point dude.  The atonement is necessary else god would have to banish us for wickedness. So let’s get this straight he has to save us from the sins he knows we were going to commit but he just lets us do them anyway? Couldn’t we just be taught to not be bad? Yet again another discrepancy with the trinity. It says the holy one of Israel will judge who is Jesus but current teachings say Jesus will be our advocate not the judge while the father judges. Little trinity artifacts everywhere  The righteous will be saved the wicked won’t.  Then some absolutely wild verses. The deaf will be punished if they don’t hear and the blind if they don’t see. Excuse me what goes uncircumcised of heart mean? That’s very not what you do with a heart dude! Just use the beattitudes please! Those who die in their sins will be forced to face th...

Chapter 2 Lehi gathers his family and they flee into the wilderness because nobody cares to Stone you if you run far enough or maybe they just can’t throw that far. Who knows. Need some Nephi arms  Laman and Lemuel are like we were rich and you want us to live in the fucking wilderness? Dude wtf Nephi is like I’m young but I’m buff as hell as spiritual and gifted and I’m sure bragging about this won’t make my brothers hate me If it’s not clear Nephi is Joseph Smith’s stand-in While the church likes to represent him as a buff 20 something given the time period Nephi is probably like 14-16 considering none of his siblings are married. Maybe younger. It’ll make Nephi make a lot more sense.
